I despise this book. I know, I know, it sounds mean, but I really cannot get through it. It's a utopian (yet dystopian) world in the future, where everyone is equal and every couple was matched by the Society to make sure that they would be compatible and make optimal offspring and blah blah blahity blah. You know? See, if Condie had focused more on the society the characters were living in instead of the dumb little love triangle, I think it'd be way better. I really don't even feel like explaining the book, because it's honestly just her struggling with whether to choose the mysterious boy or the cute childhood friend. I can't even really like the main character! I can't relate to her at all, and that's definitely a problem. You can go ahead and try it for yourself, because I'm sure there are other people who are in love with this book. I'm just not one of them. The plot itself is perfect, but the storyline is in need of repair.

Stalking Jack the Ripper has got to be one of my all-time favorite books. It's masterfully written, especially for a debut novel. It's addicting, harrowing, with a hint of romance. Who would ever think you could be addicted to 1888-sarcastic-flirting? It follows the struggles of a young girl fighting against her family's high status so that she may do what she loves (autopsies and such) instead of becoming a demure little housewife. Her mother died from a sudden sickness when Audrey Rose (the main character) was young, and her entire family was instantly struck with grief. Her older brother was thought to have handled it well, but her father resented his brother, who worked in the medical field, for his not being able to save the father's wife...
